Nedlin

In this blog series, we spotlight B Corps across the Benelux that are redefining their industries. This edition brings us to Elsloo, in the Dutch province of Limburg, where family business Nedlin is reshaping the role of laundry in the circular economy.

Nedlin B Corp. Why become b corp

Beyond Certification: How Nedlin Is Reengineering the Laundry Industry for a Low-Carbon Future

Industrial laundry may not be the first place you’d look for climate innovation—but B Corp Nedlin is showing that even the most energy-intensive industries can lead the way toward a sustainable future. With cutting-edge water purification systems, a relentless drive to innovate, and a 40% reduction in CO₂ emissions, Nedlin is proving that clean doesn’t have to cost the planet.

More Than Clean Sheets: A Commitment to Clean Processes

When it comes to CO₂ emissions, many assume logistics is the biggest culprit. But for Nedlin, that’s not the case.

“The biggest climate impact comes from inside the laundry facility itself,” says Luuk de Win, who runs Nedlin alongside his brother Stef. “And that’s where we’ve focused our efforts.”

Nedlin rents and maintains textiles for healthcare institutions, hospitality clients, and industry. That means high volumes, high hygiene standards, and high water and energy use. But instead of seeing that as a constraint, Nedlin saw an opportunity to innovate.

A Water System That Heats Itself

In their newest facility, Nedlin installed an advanced water purification and heat recovery system that recycles and reuses nearly all of its water and heat. The process looks like this:

  • All used wash water is filtered to become clean enough to meet drinking water standards.
  • This water is already 40°C and is further heated to 50°C using waste heat from other processes.
  • Only a small amount of energy is then needed to reach the optimal 60°C washing temperature.
  • The result? A 40% reduction in carbon emissions, achieved without compromising hygiene or efficiency.

“Innovation is part of our DNA,” says Luuk. “It’s how we keep improving our processes and lowering our environmental footprint.”

A Broader Framework for Impact

Nedlin’s B Corp journey didn’t just drive technical innovation—it expanded their view on sustainability.

“B Corp helps us improve across the board,” says Luuk. “It doesn’t just focus on the environment—it challenges us to grow on all five impact pillars.” Those five pillars—governance, workers, community, environment, and customers—are at the heart of the B Impact Assessment, the tool that guides companies toward more inclusive, equitable regenerative business models.

And while Nedlin is already seeing significant results from their new systems, Luuk is clear that B Corp isn’t about perfection. “The best advice I can give? Just start with the assessment. It gives you insight into where you stand, and where you can improve.”

A Blueprint for What’s Possible

Nedlin is a clear example of what’s possible when sustainability is integrated into core operations. By focusing on what they can control—and collaborating on what they can’t—this family-run business is showing that innovation, impact, and industry leadership can go hand in hand.
