What is a B Corp?

B Corps commit to positively impact all stakeholders

Certified B Corporations, or B Corps, envision a better economic system where businesses can benefit people, communities, and the planet. They choose long-term investments over quick wins, and measure their success based on the positive impact they create.

What is a B Corp?

B Corps are companies that:

  • Have verified social & environmental performance

B Corps complete the B Impact Assessment, achieve a verified score of 80 points or more, and pass the disclosure questionnaire review.

  • Mission-lock their company

B Corps legally commit to considering the impact of their decisions on all stakeholders – a model known as stakeholder governance.

  • Embrace transparency

B Corps publish their company profile on our B Corp Directory, transparently showcasing their performance measured against our standards.

The B Impact Assessment (BIA)

The B Impact Assessment (BIA) is a free and confidential online tool to help you measure and manage your company’s impact on its governance, workers, communities, environment and customers. To obtain B Corporation Certification, a company first needs to complete the B Impact Assessment. Companies that earn a minimum score of 80 out of 200 points undergo an assessment review process, verifying the claims made in their assessment.
